Office Building S.O.L.

Besko company has proceeded to the complete renovation of the SOL office building in the center of Athens. As architect consultants for the Goulandris Foundation (property owner), we had an obligation to propose the best financial and technical proposal. It is a 7,000-square-meter building that has not been modernized for 30 years. A contemporary fire safety study, an energy loss proposal, a cooling-heating study and new internal flow diagrams were carried out. Interventions in the energy efficiency segment saved 45% energy. New shell, lamp replacement, heat pump and power window frames are some of the interventions that have taken place. A mineral fiber ceiling was applied throughout the building to cover the firefighting network as well as cabling for automation and computerization systems. The 7 th floor (administration) was re-designed to meet the current requirements of the Board of Directors. In the SOL office building the coordination of the works was vital as they were done while the company was operating normally without hindering the daily work of the 300 employees.
