Residential Block at Papagou Park – Korytsas
The architectural composition of the building applies functionally, morphologically and in the context of the urban dimensions, elements, which are part of the residential environment, the urban fabric, the massing and morphology of the area. The design of the building has taken into account the changing microclimate of the area. In particular, the proposed solution with the creation of parking spaces in the Pilotis aims to avoid on street parking, it creates additional spaces within the plot, but even with the smaller coverage, it increases the functional planting surfaces. The facades of the building have been processed in such a way that they have elements with homogeneity in terms of rhythm, a harmonious composition between them, and overall, the building presents a form with austerity of style, particularity, perfect aesthetics and volume. The layout of the building was based on the separation of two zones, the zone of the living areas, where it is a single and airy kitchen-dining-living area, and the zone of the bedrooms together with their bathrooms. The central staircase was placed centrally on the south-east side of the plot, in order to create a visual "barrier" from the existing apartment building and direct the view of the building towards the Papagos grove to the south-west and to the adjacent park from Eyterpis street to the north-west. Morphologically and design-wise, the principles of modernism are followed and, in the materials, visible concrete is used in combination with chrome plaster and metal elements (slats or rods) that function as protective railings on the balconies as well as shading elements. At the same time, large surfaces with glazing are installed - aluminum energy frames, thermal break, electrostatic paint in anthracite gray shade, in order to make the most of the unobstructed view of the specific plot and to create the feeling of transparency of the building towards the nearby parks.
